ADVANCED TRAINING
Advanced helicopter pilot training is invaluable for enhancing both safety and operational proficiency, ensuring that pilots stay ahead of the curve and possess the necessary skills to handle complex flight environments.
TURBINE TRANSITION
The purpose of the course is to give pilots an introduction into how to safely operate turbine powered helicopters and specifically how their operations differ from piston powered aircraft. Some of the elements we cover include:
Power management
Hot, High and Heavy Operations
Weight & Balance
Confined Areas
Although we teach in the Bell JetRanger much of what we cover is applicable to any turbine powered, light helicopter (R66, MD500, EN480 etc).
The course includes:
A total of 5 hours flight training in the Bell 206 JetRanger
5 Hours ground instruction covering turbine engine theory and operation, hazards, emergency procedures
Written exam
A flight review as per CFR 61.56
Course completion certificate
LOW LEVEL OPERATIONS
Our low level operations course is designed to enhance pilot safety and skills when operating below 500ft AGL. It focuses on the unique challenges and hazards associated in this high-workload environment
The course includes both flying and ground training that includes:
Maneuvering at low level
Planning low level operations
Risk Management
Low level navigation
Situational awareness and wire strike avoidance
Low level emergencies
The course is ideal for:
Pilots who routinely operate below 500ft AGL
New pilots considering a career in utility operations and patrol
Any pilot looking to expand their flying skills
ADVANCED OFF AIRPORT OPERATIONS
This is what helicopters do! Getting into and out of confined areas safely really allows a helicopter pilot to leverage the unique capabilities of their aircraft.
The course includes both flying and ground training that includes:
Preflight planning
Assessing off-airport landing area suitability
Enhanced high and low reconnaissance techniques
Steep approach and maximum performance take off variations
Helicopter performance
Risk Management
Situational awareness and wire strike avoidance
The course is ideal for:
Pilots who intend to operate out of unprepared off airport environments
Any pilot looking to expand their flying skills
FLIGHT REVIEWS
Required every 2 years, as per CFR 61.56… a flight review consists of a minimum of 1 hour of flight training and 1 hour of ground training. The review must include:
(1) A review of the current general operating and flight rules of part 91 of this chapter; and
(2) A review of those maneuvers and procedures that, at the discretion of the person giving the review, are necessary for the pilot to demonstrate the safe exercise of the privileges of the pilot certificate.
The flight review presents and excellent opportunity to sharpen your piloting skills and refresh your knowledge. We are available to conduct flight reviews at our facility or yours, in our aircraft or years.
